Teaser Trailer Example

What is a TEASER TRAILER?
A teaser trailer is a short version of a film trailer that is designed to get the interest of the audience, getting potential viewers excited about an upcoming film. Teasers, as they are also called, are typically released months in advance, sometimes as much as 18 months before the expected release date of the film, and they are used to build anticipation and curiosity about the films they advertise. These trailers can be seen before feature films in some cinemas, and they are also released online and shown on television.
Normally, a teaser trailer lasts between thirty seconds and a minute. It may include footage from the film, often in a rough stage since the film has not been completed, or it may use entirely new material. In some cases, a teaser is simply an shortened version of a regular film trailer, including the film's tagline and key footage in a condensed version that is more television-friendly.

This is a teaser trailer for the film 'Skyfall' that was released this year. I decided to look at an example of a teaser trailer for inspriation for the teaser trailer me and my group are creating. Although this film does not fit in with our hybrid genre of Thriller/Drama, it does, however, include the codes and conventions of a teaser trailer that will be included in most teaser trailers despite the different genres. The trailer begins with the production companies logo's appearing on the sreen, this is to show who has helped in the production of the film. Towards the end of the trailer the name of the film appears on the screen in large text, this is used to show the title of the film and by it suddenly appearing it draws attention to it and stands out making the title more memorable for the viewer. Following this is the use of a montage to once again grasp the attention of the audience, its fast paced and exciting, however this is an element that is more specific to the action genre of 'Skyfall'. The trailer ends with a release date to the film so the audience can know when it comes and it is the last thing they see of the trailer as it is very important as for its success as it requires people to go and see it.
